Taking Care of Your Broom

BUILT TO LAST A LIFETIME WITH SIMPLE CARE

Made using traditional pre-industrial techniques, each broom is crafted from natural broomcorn - a material that responds beautifully to a little attention. Follow these tips to keep your handmade broom fresh, functional, and sweeping well for years to come.

STORAGE CONDITIONING CLEANING

Do not store your broom outdoors, even under cover, even in summer

To straighten bent ends, dip into warm water for an hour and reshape by hand, hanging to dry Store away from direct sunlight to prevent discolouration
Never stand or store it on its bristles To condition and prevent brittle ends, occasionally dip in warm water and hang to dry If mould or mildew appears on the bristles, wipe clean with a cloth dipped in vinegar and water solution
Always store in a moisture free, well ventilated area Broomcorn is a natural fibre, it can be cleaned with water and a little fairy liquid but air drying from its hanger is key Swish the brush head in warm water and a drop of dish washing liquid to cleanse the ends and trim the ends of the bristles when required

...and, whatever you do, do not feed them after midnight!
