THE ART OF THE HAND BROOM: ENCHANTED HAND BROOMS & WOVEN GRIPS

Join me in this enchanting and historic Victorian era cemetery chapel as we gather to weave enchanted hand brooms with woven grips, in this intimate 4 hour workshop. 

Students will learn the fundamentals of heritage handcrafted brooms (a pre-industrial craft using no machinery and no electricity).

Choose and process your fibre, select twine colour and hanger type. Students can add an adornment such as a crystal, a vintage pendant, or dried botanical (I will have a selection on hand or you can bring your own). PLUS we will learn to weave the hurl already making up the handle (see yellow and red handles in these images for examples) to make a broom that's entirely unique to you!

These brooms are beautiful and are absolutely meant to be used, whether you are sweeping your kitchen counters or moving the energy from a room. Cast with it, smudge with it, or simply clean house with it. 

Please note: broom making is a physical craft, completed in one sitting with a single length of twine. Come prepared to sit, pull, and weave using both hands and feet (shoes off) for a sustained period (bring a cushion if you like). Knives and lighters are in use.
